Rumplestiltskin 2007 Appassimento Red (Russian River Valley)

This red blends 39% Merlot, 38% Sangiovese, 13% Cabernet Franc and 10% Dolcetto, employing the appassimento technique of drying the grapes for 60 days after harvest before crushing and fermenting. The whole was then aged in one six-liter cask. Thick, syrupy and interesting, it tastes of dried currant, cranberry, dried herb and Christmas spice. Virginie Boone
