Earthy, meaty and full of smashed berries. Red currant and plum flavors dominate, with a touch of green pepper in there as well. It's a brawny wine that's more rustic than refined. The balance and acid structure, however, is right on. The blend is Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot, in descending order. —M.S.
