Rutherford Ranch 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

Thin for a '99, with modest black currant, plum, tobacco and earthy flavors and a little bit of oak. The tannins are pretty puckery, although the acids feel low and soft. —S.H.
