This is the first vintage made after Chalone purchased the old Staton Hills winery and renamed it Sagelands, and it's clear that improvements are being made. This is spicy and herbal, with ripe but not overripe fruit. The winemaking is straightforward and the flavors clean, with some dill and herb.
