San Juan Vineyards 2002 Syrah (Columbia Valley (WA))

Almost tropically fruity, this wine's ultraripe berries nevertheless turn tart and balanced on the finish. Pepper and herb notes add complexity. It's not the richest, most textured wine, but it's crisp, clean and—most of all—delivers pleasure.
