San Pedro 2004 1865 Reserva Carmenère (Maule Valley)

High priced for Carmenère, especially one of this marginal quality. The nose is all olives and herbal essence, while the palate shows a coating of cinnamon oak on top of midland red cherry and raspberry flavors. Not that impressive given that it's a reserve-level effort. Michael Schachner
