San Pedro 2018 Altaïr Red (Cachapoal Valley)

One sniff of this red blend puts you on the pyrazine train; this smells a lot like a juniper bush in the heat of summer along with a dirt road and spicy, reedy plum and currant. A layered palate offers olive, green herb, mint, spice and blackberry flavors, while a firm finish is hot and burning. If you know Altaïr, then you should be prepared for the wine's extreme personality. Drink through 2032. Michael Schachner
