Sanctuary Vineyards 2016 Handcrafted Vin Orange Viognier (North Carolina)

This orange Viognier, fermented on the skins, is cloudy in appearance, offering aromas of Mandarins, lychees, yellow peaches and fresh lillies. Drying tannins and a dandelion note distract from candied orange peel, dried flower and dried apicot flavors on the palate. A good effort, there is plenty of acidity for balance but the moderate finish of tea tannins and persimmons is lacking in concentration. Fiona Adams
