Sanford 2014 Vista Al Rio Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills)

From a vineyard planted by winery in 1997 that overlooks the Santa Ynez River, this bottling shows clean black-cherry, vanilla, clove and star anise aromas. There is a strong red-plum and orange-rind tang on the palate, which is framed by strong acidity and a chalky texture. Potpourri and black cherry pop on the finish. Matt Kettmann
