Santa Alicia 2005 Gran Reserva de Los Andes Carmenère (Maipo Valley)

Cherry and herbs control the nose, yet there seems to be a little clam shell and sour berry in there, too. The palate is basic and creamy, with nice red-fruit flavors of raspberry, cherry and plum. Shows a slight lactic, creamy personality on the finish while all the time conforming to the model of what is good, higher-end Carmenère. Michael Schachner
