Santa Ema 2004 Barrel Select Carmenère (Cachapoal Valley)

Adequate but uninspiring is this rooty, savory wine that comes on too sweet and soft. It's all about baked fruit with cola and vanilla accents, and while those flavors are good for a parfait or ice cream sundae, they're too soft and gooey for a dry red wine. Michael Schachner
