Savage 2019 Cape Winemakers Guild Auction Syrah (Swartland)

Winemaker: Duncan Savage. Crushed violet, black raspberry, boysenberry and fresh rooibos form the bouquet of this attractive wine, with delicate accents of cocoa-dusted cherry and sweet wood spice on top. The palate is plush and bold, with pronounced fruit flavors framed by medium-grain tannins that produce a texture like crushed velvet. Ample acidity keeps the balance in check, while the spicy, charred-cherry-tinged finish lingers long. Drink 2025–2028. Lauren Buzzeo
