Schauer 2018 Ried Gaisriegl Sauvignon Blanc (Südsteiermark)

Editors' Choice

Hazelnut, cream, lemon and nettle mix with flinty smokiness on the subtle nose. The palate then comes in with substance, backbone and a yeasty, creamy texture. This is countered by exquisite, expressive freshness that lends a spotlight to Mirabelle plum and more of that green-tinged citrus. All of this happens on an exquisitely slender body. Drink by 2040.
