Schild Estate 2002 Merlot (Barossa)

A solid effort for an Australian Merlot--not, seemingly, a grape variety that performs its best Down Under. This is leathery and meaty, with hints of Worcestershire layered over slightly pruny fruit. Ultrasupple and creamy, with a coffee-tinged, mouthwatering finish. Drink now. Joe Czerwinski
