Schild Estate 2016 Shiraz (Barossa Valley)

This Shiraz starts out on the reductive side, with barnyard aromas overlaying plush plummy fruit, dried green herbs and a slight meaty note. The full-bodied palate shows a tang of bright acidity balanced by tight-grained, drying oak tannins and a green herbal finish. This is a rich but not overly muscular wine that needs time in a glass or decanter to open up. Christina Pickard
