Schnaitmann 2016 Lämmler GG Lemberger (Württemberg)

Editors' Choice

Grand Cru Lemberger is a rarity in the United States, but this beautifully perfumed, luminous sip is well worth the search. Rose petals and smoke on the nose accent deeply concentrated flavors of elderberry, blackberry and granite. It's rounded and velvety but balanced by thrilling tangs of acidity and minerality. Tasted in 2020, it's plenty youthful now and likely to improve another decade. Anna Lee C. Iijima
