Schweiger 2000 Dedication Red (Spring Mountain District)

Smells and tastes pretty good, with currant notes accented by considerable oak, which brings vanilla, smoke and sweet wood-sap flavors. Yet the tannins are enormous and problematic, striking midpalate and leaving the mouth feeling numb, and the depth of flavor just isn't there to counterbalance them.
