Sebastopol 1999 Dutton Estate - Gail Ann's Vineyard Syrah (Russian River Valley)

A creamy, hazelnut and berry nose opens this smooth wine. On the palate, though, the charred oak runs rampant over the cherry fruit, and the mouthfeel is thinner than we expected. Closes short, with more of the same flavors. Some good elements here, but the wine's ultimately a bit disjointed, and slightly hollow.
