Seghesio 2001 Barbera (Sonoma County)

This family knows from Barbera, but even they can't overcome its big tannins, which make it bitter and numbing in its youth. That said, it's a very good wine, with excellent plum, blackberry and espresso flavors and good acids. If you're into aging wines, stick it in your cellar for a decade and enjoy later.
