Sextant 2018 Portolan Syrah (Paso Robles)

Mesquite-roasted black-cherry and red-berry aromas meet with hints of tar and charcoal on the nose of this bottling. There's a dense chalky structure to the grippy sip, which suspends the dark-plum and berry flavors until elderflower and star anise spice carry the finish. Matt Kettmann
