Shady Lane 2016 Pomeranz Riesling (Leelanau Peninsula)

Editors' Choice

The gold color and ever so slightly cloudy appearance set the tone for a curious wine, as do aromas of oolong, bergamot and orange peels. White tea tannins are well balanced by mellow but steady stony acidity on the palate that echoes the nose adding kumquat and lemon peels. The lingering finish delicately yet endlessly holds the bergamot and lemon-peel flavors. This is a thought-provoking wine for those who enjoy fascinating wines with some skin contact. Fiona Adams
