Generally speaking we are big fans of Odfjell's wines, but not so much the Syrah. This vintage is a step up from the overdone, overoaked 2005. It has floral, high-toned berry and plum aromas and more than a kiss of vanillin and cream. The palate is tight, a bit lemony and woody, with forward flavors of red fruits, cola and mint. Not all that spicy, varietal or complex, but definitely a healthy, ripe wine.
