Winemaker Dave Jepson's first Sangiovese is a remarkably fruity, flavorful wine, and an impressive start for what has proven to be a challenging variety elsewhere on the West Coast. Two different Biondi Santi vineyard clones were used, fermented with a yeast from Montalcino. The cherry candy fruit flavors are delicious, and hints of cut tobacco are there as well. Rare in Oregon and virtually unknown in the Willamette Valley, this is a very promising start.
