Sierra Cantabria 2014 Amancio (Rioja)

A fleshy nose is ripe but stolid, with mild dark-fruit aromas along with charred, toasty hints. A full palate shows scratchy tannins and flavors of dark fruits, mocha and lemony oak. Baked berry flavors linger on an oaky finish with rubbing tannins. Keep in mind that 2014 was a damp vintage, so this deserves extra credit. Michael Schachner
