Silver Lake 2006 Merlot (Rattlesnake Hills)

Oddly, Silver Lake's least expensive Merlot is its best. It's a solidly made, straight-ahead varietal wine, with a core of black olive and currant, stiff tannins and enough grip to hold up to hearty main meat dishes. Paul Gregutt
