Simonsig 2019 Cape Winemakers Guild Die Dop Chenin Blanc (Stellenbosch)

Winemaker: Johan Malan. Earthy, floral scents of Spanish broom and goldenrod lead the bouquet of this enticing white, while fruity tones of apple flesh and melon rind unfold at the core. It's full but not flabby in weight, with medium acidity and flavors of tangerine oil, freshly dried hay, melon pith and lightly wood-grilled apple. A touch of lanolin flashes on the finish, followed by a lingering pithy citrus impression that leaves you ready for more. It's hard to resist now, but this will continue to develop well through 2029.
