A very subtle hint of oak transmutes the super-fresh varietal notes into gentler stone-fruit notions of ripe yellow plum and apricot. The leesy texture of the wine lends body and weight, while the expert handling of oak adds a layer of complexity to the slumbering, ripe fruit underneath. This is delicious now but will get even better. Anne Krebiehl MW
