Sobon Estate 2002 Cougar Hill Zinfandel (Shenandoah Valley (CA))

Smells sugary and caramelly, like Port, although it's basically dry in the mouth, with flavors of ripe blackberries and cocoa. Nice with barbecue, burgers, sausage. EDITOR: Concerning the appellation. As far as I know, the official government designation is California Shenandoah Valley. However wineries in the appellation print it differently on their front labels. When I review, I reproduce the AVA as it appears on the front label.
