A heady and unusual blend of Grenache, Uva di Troia, Pinot Meunier and Mencia makes for a translucent, cherry-hued bottling. After some swirling, the nose offers appealing notes of rose water, strawberry, cocktail bitters and dried herbs, spices and florals. There's some stalky, sappy whole bunch notes here, too. The palate is less exciting. It's medium in weight, with a big lift of acidity and quite powerful tannins that rake across the tongue. Tart red berry notes finish. Drink slightly chilled with a fatty dish like pork rillette or grilled Middle Eastern-style eggplant. Christina Pickard
