91pointsSpy Valley 2015 Riesling (Marlborough)

Another example of Riesling's untapped potential in New Zealand, this wine has a little bottle age and is showing nicely the variety's ability to morph with time. Between pale and medium gold in color, it's honeyed, and gingery, with notes of lemon meringue, grapefruit and the beginnings of some gasoline characters. The palate is beautifully textured: rich, powdery and honeyed, with spice and a long, citrusy finish. Drink now through 2024. Christina Pickard
