St Hallett 1997 Blackwell Shiraz (Barossa Valley)

Cellar Selection

Now, five years after the harvest, this wine still seems incorrigibly young. It's still very primary, showing lots of blackberry fruit mingled with Nilla Wafer crumbs—like a rich berry-vanilla compote. Hold for another few years, unless you're looking only for primary fruit. —J.C. Joe Czerwinski
