St Hallett 2002 Gamekeepers Reserve Red (Barossa Valley)

Editors' Choice

A blend of Grenache, Shiraz, Touriga and Mourvedre; pair with foods that you'd ordinarily pair with Pinot. Spicy, with earth, clay and bright plum fruit that should be taken seriously; dry in the mouth, with gummy, chalky tannins that give the wine very nice texture and length. More than you'd expect of a wine of this price. A pleasant surprise.
