Staatsweingüter Kloster Eberbach 1998 Rauenthaler Baiken Brut Riesling (Rheingau)

Pale to the point of looking almost watery, this subtle wine smells of rosewater and light peaches. Wan but elegant, balanced and dry, it is refreshing and a bit lower in alcohol (11.5%) than most of the rest. If you want restrained styling, which is fine for sipping, this is a good bet. —P.G. Paul Gregutt
