Stevens 2008 BlackTongue Syrah (Yakima Valley)

BlackTongue has some of the same umami-soaked character as the nearby Boushey vineyard Syrahs, with perhaps more earth, smoke, tar and licorice, and a little less funk and composty aromas. A stylistic note—this is a very dry Syrah, deep, compact, layered with black fruit flavors, cassis and very dry tannins. Paul Gregutt
