Stolpman 2019 Pliocene Mourvèdre (Ballard Canyon)

Cellar Selection

From a densely planted block of own-rooted, head-pruned, “pre-clonal” vines, this still-young bottling begins with aromas of black fruit, wet stone and crumpled violet. There's fascinating tension and grip to the palate, with hints of white pepper, crushed chalk, rose hips and purple-flower flavors. Drink 2022–2032. Matt Kettmann
