Stolpman 2021 La Cuadrilla Red (Ballard Canyon)

Editors' Choice

Though this blend of 75% Syrah, 15% Grenache and 10% Sangiovese is somewhat of a leftover estate wine, it succeeds on so many hedonistic levels. Dark and penetrating aromas of hickory, blackberry, soy, pepper and chocolate-chip cookie on the nose lead into a rich and ripe palate of black cherry, cassis and violet. Feathery tannins hold it together. Matt Kettmann
