Stryker Sonoma 1999 Old Vine Estate Zinfandel (Alexander Valley)

Massively proportioned, this is a wine picked at maximum sugary ripeness and then fully fermented, leaving it very dry, but alcoholic, at 16.2%. The plush berry flavors are delicious and complex, and cover the palate with fruity sweetness. This is long-hangtime California Zin all the way, and in its own style, a classic. —S.H.
