Swiftwater 2017 Saffron Fields Vineyard Pinot Noir (Oregon)

Some interesting choices were made in producing this wine, most notably the inclusion of 100% whole clusters and 18 months aging in neutral oak. Green flavors of stems and herbs and skins dominate, giving the wine a weedy character with little in the way of appealing fruit. The finish is quite astringent, further emphasizing the herbal components. Paul Gregutt
