Swiftwater Cellars 2016 No. 9 Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley)

The aromatics carry a whiff of toast and a hint of barnyard, more of a feature than a flaw. Blackberry fruit, dried leaves, a touch of funk and a wet stone finish give this an interesting mouthfeel and admirable complexity. Note that Oregon wine labeling laws are in flux for out-of-state producers; this was vinted and bottled in Cle Elum, Washington. Paul Gregutt
