Made entirely with fruit from Aria Vineyard on Walla Walla's Southside, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was aged 19 months in French oak, 40% of which was new. Aromas of blackberries, bittersweet dark chocolate, cigar box and wet concrete explode from the glass like a newly tapped oil well. Blackberries reappear on the palate, accompanied by tastes like cherry-flavored salt-water taffy and vanilla. The wine's leaner mouthfeel, elevated acidity and lack of heat were a happy surprise, given its heady alcohol percentage. Michael Alberty
