A bit of bottle age has been kind to this sturdy, tightly structured Barossa Shiraz. It has a nose you could dive into and swim around in: a combo of charred purple beets, fresh blackberry, plum, mocha, black olives and Christmas spices. The silky mouthfeel is cinched with fine tannins offset with vibrant acidity, making this approachable now but capable of aging another decade or more. Oak influence is obvious now but should be less so with more time in the bottle. Christina Pickard
