A fine Merlot from a state rarely recognized for its versions of the grape, this ripe and rich wine was sourced from a vineyard in the northeast corner. Aged 22 months in 50% new oak barrels, it's awash in flavors of mocha and cherry, with tongue-scraping astringency as the tannins fade away. Drink 2020–2026. Paul Gregutt
