Talley 2017 Oliver's Chardonnay (Edna Valley)

In a lineup of mostly delicate expressions, this is one of the winery's more oak-forward bottlings, starting with aromas of toasted wood and light caramel. The oak shows on the sip too, but the wine remains clean, pure and soft, with flavors of butterscotch and scorched lemon. Matt Kettmann
