Tamar Ridge 2005 Pinot Gris (Tasmania)

A full, plump style with 14% alcohol, but one that carries it well, balanced by spicy, peppery flavors and perhaps even a touch of residual sugar. Aromas of wet stones, peach blossom and apple-pear-lime fruit presage the ripely fruity flavors of apples, pears and melon. Finishes long. Drinkable now, although might develop more interesting spice nuances in another few years. Joe Czerwinski
