Telmo Rodríguez 2000 Lanzaga (Rioja)

Simply lovely in the nose, with lavender, violets, berries and cedary wood. This is quite the heavyweight, with a candied, oaky palate that offers plenty of vanilla. The mouthfeel is a touch creamy, but once you dig in, the wine shows its nuances and stuffing. Smoothness is definitely what you get here, plus major-league richness and extract. Michael Schachner
