Ten Sisters 2020 Pinot Noir (Marlborough)

This is a ripe yet lightweight style of Pinot. Plum, raspberry and cherry preserves dominate. An underbelly of pencil lead, dried violets and warming spices adds a layer of interest. Textural tannins are talc-like and appealing on the palate, but elevated acidity and a lack of fruit depth makes this a little thin and aggressive. Nevertheless, there's crowd appeal in this affordable bottling. Christina Pickard
