An excellent vintage for Il Grifone, which is a blend of 80% Montepulciano and 20% Cab Sauvignon. The nose is slightly leathery, with hints of crude oil, dark berry and toast. It's tight in the mouth, but serious, with tannins as well as ripe, complex plum and berry flavors. Should be great with grilled meats and the like. Imported by Empson (USA) Ltd.
