Terrabianca 1998 Ceppate Sangiovese (Tuscany)

This wine is Cabernet-based, with 25% Sangiovese. It has overly powerful wood aromas along with bacon and bramble. The palate is bright, serious and loaded with cherry, plum, coffee and bitter chocolate, and the finish is dark and layered. The problem, however, is the tannins, which are exceedingly hard and aggressive. —M.S. Michael Schachner
