Teusner 2006 Joshua Red (Barossa Valley)

A blend of 65% Grenache with the rest Mataro (Mourvèdre) and Shiraz, this sees no oak, so the fruit's bold character shines. Black cherries lead the way, accented by a hint of almond. The texture is smooth; there's a sense of delicacy here, despite the authoritative flavors. Drink now–2010. Joe Czerwinski
