Thirsty Owl Wine Company 2017 Syrah (Finger Lakes)

Dense aromas of blueberry and blackberry are lifted by crushed black pepper, warm barrel spice and dried herbs on the nose. The palate is firm in feel, with everything in check, showing juicy yet honed dark fruit flavors and peppery and oak accents chiming in. The tannins are firm yet provide a nice covering for it all. It ends a bit short on the dry, peppery finish, but what's there is delicious. Alexander Peartree
